How we helped SiO build a digital ecosystem that's easier to operate, improve, and scale.
In short
Challenge
SiO needed to modernize a wide digital ecosystem. Their website, business applications, integration platform, infrastructure, and ways of working all had to evolve. Supporting better student services at scale was the big goal.
Solution
We migrated and modernized legacy services from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based microservices. New student-facing and platform services were designed and rolled out. Build and deployment pipelines were automated. Testing and security scanning introduced. Plus, we helped SiO move from project-based delivery to product-focused continuous improvement.
Impact
SiO now ships features to production continuously. This is based on business value and clear prioritization. Product teams collaborate more effectively across systems, stakeholders, and service areas. The result is a stronger digital foundation for student life in Oslo.

One website for all student needs
For SiO’s website (sio.no), we designed and implemented a public-facing site that brings together information and functionality across all of SiO’s service areas. It supports student journeys across everything from housing to memberships and everyday services.The solution is built with React and Next.js, running in a container-based architecture on Azure Kubernetes. Content is delivered through a headless architecture using Enonic XP, Sanity, and Contentful.
In 2023, we launched The Housing Journey on sio.no and in the SiO app. It supports the full housing lifecycle, from exploring areas and searching for housing, to moving in, living there, and eventually moving out. The service includes map views, filtering, and My Page, giving students a personal overview and practical guidance in one place. Alongside it, we delivered a new admin system, making everyday work easier for SiO's housing staff.
Built on .NET, ASP.NET Blazor, and React, with Contentful headless CMS and Elasticsearch powering search.
