Bane NOR’s outdated website was difficult to navigate, fragmented across multiple platforms, and no longer supported their digital ambitions or user needs.

We built a modern, cloud-based platform with a user-centered design, clear information architecture, and a scalable content model — enabling Bane NOR to manage and grow their digital ecosystem with ease.

Where the rails squeaked

The old banenor.no ran on a locally hosted Episerver v.11. The solution was slow, did not meet security standards, and wasn’t very user-friendly. Search rarely delivered relevant results, the menu was confusing, the content structure was not intuitive and the solution was difficult to use on a mobile.

Users often found the same information in different formats across related sites, and navigation between banenor.no and its connected sites was difficult.

Bane NOR had recently established a web organization with an accompanying content strategy, but clear frameworks, anchoring, and role definitions where missing. The editorial team did not have sufficient routines for quality assurance and content updates, which made content management demanding.

The project was not only about technology, content, and design — it was equally about establishing better structure, improving user experience, and helping to create a more efficient organization.

Full speed ahead

Bane NOR now runs on a modern, cloud-based platform that is secure, stable, and scalable. Users experience faster access, clear navigation, and a consistent experience across every device. Editors have streamlined routines, a defined governance model, and clear responsibilities. Content is easier to manage, and quality easier to maintain.

The platform was built for reuse, and it’s proving its value every day. On the same foundation, Bane NOR has already launched 16 new websites. This includes the main portals banenor.no and banenoreiendom.no, five project sites, and nine separate sites under oppslagsverk.banenor.no. Development is faster, maintenance is lighter, costs are reduced, and consistency across the digital landscape is stronger.

With this setup, Bane NOR now has the agility to expand services, test new concepts, and meet changing needs with confidence. A future-ready platform, built for growth.

The collaboration with NoA Ignite has been outstanding. They were available and responsive throughout the entire process. The new website has already yielded positive results, with increased traffic and an improved user experience, not least thanks to the well-thought-out universal design.
